C6 Transmission Problem
I have a 1982 Full Size Bronco with a 351/C and a C6 transmission. I have had it for about six months. One of the first things I did was to have the transfer case rebuit and PM's done on the tranny. At that time the tranny was fine. and has been until yesterday.
Yesterday it appears that tranny had a heart attack. He will go in reverse, but only revs when in drive. He doesn't want to move forward. He will only move forward when the hubs are locked and in four low. I did check the fluid, its fine.
I'm hoping its just a vacuum leak. Does any one any other ideas I can look at? Right now if it isn't a vacuum leak, then I have to take it in and get it rebuilt. Hoping to aviod that right now.
It shouldn't be the transfer case, I had that rebuilt shortly after I bought it (back in November).
It will move forward but only in 4 High.
Taking to the trani shop in the AM, same place I had the TC rebuilt. They stand behind their work.
Still hoping its something small and not too expensive.
The whole tranny was shot. The mechanic couldn't beleive that it still had all the original factory parts and seals. The Tranny had over a 190,000 miles on it. So I guess I can't complain. I just wish it was me who put the 190K on it. It shoud be good for another 100k or so miles so that good.
