I am so lost - I hit a pheasant with my 95 Bronco a few weeks ago, shattering my passenger side headlight. I have a replacement unit, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to put it in!! I've tried removing the grille, but can't find or can't get to all the bolts and screws. I almost resorted to busting the silver plastic trim from around the entire light area, but decided it wasn't worth it.
Can someone give me step-by-step, idiot-proof instructions on how to do this? I can handle tools, but just don't have any experience with body work at all.
Thanks for your help, Billy Bob, but it isn't just the bulb that went out - it's the whole assembly that was shattered. I've changed the bulbs before - they're not bad. This, however, has become a nightmare!
They are a PIA to get out. The screws are in the back and you will need to remove the battery to get to them. Then the whole headlight/Bezel assembly will come out. I don't remember exactly how many screws(Actually nuts on studs screwed into the plastic) where in there but I do remember at least 1 that you cannot see but will need to use your fingers to find it and a deep socket.
Thanks for the help! Even though it's the other side, now I know what I need to look for specifically when I get inside there. You guys have all been a great help - thanks again!
LOL - I was just about at that point, believe me. By the way - I FIXED IT!!! That may not seem to be that big of a deal to most of you, but I have very little mechanical experience, so this was pretty high on my difficulty meter! The links you guys sent me helped a ton - and saved me at least $50! Thanks for watching out for your fellow Bronco owners!
I remember the first thing I did to my first car; 78 VW Rabbit Gas engine. I replaced the master cylinder and bled all of the brakes. I ended up putting more brake fluid the VW than I did gasoline. lol learning is fun!
Yeah, Andrew, sounds like something I'd do! Needless to say, I'm not going to try anything quite that extensive for awhile - if a broken headlight had me out of commission for over 2 weeks, imagine what repairing my brakes would be like!! Like you guys said, I think I'll just enjoy my success!
but remember the only way to learn to do anything, is take classes, or jump right in. I have learned a ton of stuff about engines; because I have tried and failed many times.
