Take it off man!
I take my hardtop off in the spring and put on my Kayline softtop till October.
Been doin it for 4 years. No leaks!!
Check out my gallery for some softtop pix.
Good Luck!
I had my top off recently - it was great!! I'd recommend numbering or marking the stamped metal bits that hold the trim on - they look alike, but each one is a little different. It will help when you put it back together with all the trim. In any case, it's a good idea to draw a little diagram that shows where screws and bolts go - there are a lot of them, and they are different.
hey f1001978,
thats an awesome idea. i was thinkin of something along the same lines for a one man lift, but more so with rope and pulleys. Your pics saved me some serious time. Once again...cool idea.
hell ill even take my top off on days like today where i have to drive 40or so miles in the rain! i have had my top off several times, and by the seal desighn, i doubt it will ever leak.
I'm going topless at the end of the summer, but I have but one thing holding me back: theft. I tend to like my cd player in the dash, and I'm thinking about a cd changer and speakers. Any of you topless guys had any theft issues? What precautions do you take? All in all, if they want it they will get it. But why not make it harder? -William
just get something that has a removable face plate, and remember to TAKE IT WITH You. it is very important. if you dont want to put it in your pocket or if yourGF doesnt carry a purse, hide it somewhere. there are all kinds of things you can do. I have seen people use a VERY old looking deck, and installing a CD changed in the center console. all the music you like, but without the fancy theft inviting in dash cd deck. thats what I has have done
There is a thread on here from a while back when we were all tossin ideas around about theft deterants. There were some pretty good ideas if I remember right... you should check it out. You should try searching for it. Maybe try one or two of them and let us know how they work out.
i have a soft top on the bronco i jsut bought . i think im jsut goign to take it off and get ride fo it. dont need it im buildign the bronco for a mud truck
did a search for anti-theft methods when topless and couldn't find anything. i like the dummy radio idea, as i still have the tape player that came with the truck. i could just leave the face plate off the whole time. how much room is behind the glove box? possibly have the real radio in there and changer in console. that'd require cutting up the g-box though. -BBB
