How to preserve a memory

My mom has a phone answering machine that she has been saving a couple of messages on because they were from 2 loved ones that suffered from cancer. One has passed away, the other is very sick. She wants to save the messages and I would help her but I'm not sure the best way to do it. It is one of those "digital" tapeless machines so you can't pull the tape out and save it. I would like to transfer it to something permanent like a CD or DVD but I'm not sure of the most efficient way. Does anyone have any ideas??

I would just get a cassette recorder and record while playing the messages. Once you have it on cassette, you should be able to bring it in the mike jack and create a WAV file for burning to CD.
