My M50D is dieing grinds in to 1st so im doing a ZF swap
I fond a ZFS5-42 with 80K on it for $800.00 but my max cost is $650.00
so I need to know if I need any clutch parts or what not.
yoda,
you've probly already run into this problem and know but i'm going to post it anyway...don't know about the clutch parts but make sure the tranny your buying was bolted to the same type motor, big block or small block, as the one in your truck. i've got a 1989 f250 4X4 (zf 5spd) with a blown 351 and i want to put a 460 but to do so i have to change the tranny because of the bellhousing bolt pattern difference and since the bellhousing and tranny case for the zf are one piece.
LR
the 351m does share the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the 460, but they stopped putting the 351m's in trucks i think in about 1981 or so. my motor is a 351 windsor which has the small block bellhousing bolt pattern.
From what I've read here from other people, is that the M5OD clutch works just fine with the ZF trans. Just double check the splines before you put it all together.
