Question engine mounts

I have a 68 Ranger with a 360 4 speed, I'm going to replace the 360 with a 240/300. Can I still use the trans, and do I need different frame to engine mounts?

They're the same, but mount in a different set of holes on the frame.

I went the other way last summer. I replaced the 240 with a 360. Everything is compatable with just a chnage in the location of the various mounts (tranny and engine.)

The tranny must have a different bell-housing at least.....Maybe I'm losing my mind.

The tranny does have a different bell housing. I tend to think of the engine/clutch/bell housing as a unit. On my exchange I also had to fab up a mount for the motor side of the clutch bell crank. This may have been because the truck is a 69 and the new motor came from a 73. On my 69 240 there was a threaded hole that a pivot pin screwed into in the engine block. On the 73 360 there was no hole and I had to make a bracket to accept the threaded pivot pin.
