i'm fairly new to diesels so this thing kinda baffles me. since it is cold out this is the only reason i see this. ok here goes
when i first start truck up you obviously can see the exhaust coming out.
well, there is a hose about 5/8in that runs parallel to trans and T-case. there is exhaust coming out of this hose. even when it's been running 5 or more minutes it seems you can see more exhaust coming out of this hose than the tailpipe. should this thing be connected to something? i have never seen this. the truck runs fine, idles fine, and goes down rode fine even on X-way.
Could be wrong on this one, my thought to what it is....is the Blow-By tube( breather). If it is, thats perfectly normal to see a LITTLE smoke out of the tube.
would it be ok to route the hose another way or further back past the cab? it wouldn't hurt would it. you can smell inside cab with any of the doors open.
I assume it's vented to atmosphere. If so, it wouldn't matter how far back you extend it.
