I was driving down the highway yesterday at 65mph when the old work van suddenly died and rolled to a stop.. uphill no less. The gas tank was about 1/4 full, so I know I didn't run out of gas.
It's a 1988 e150 with the 300 straight 6, fuel injected. I've recently done a full tuneup (new plugs, wires, rotor cap, oil change, all new filters), except that I didn't replace the fuel filter. The sticker under the hood says something about a fuel cutoff switch, which is one of the things I'd like to check tomorrow other than spark and fuel pressure. I have no owners manual to tell me the location of the switch or how to reset it. Does anyone know where to find this switch and how to reset it, or can you point me in the right direction anyway? LOL
There are 2 pumps on this system. Are you sure the tank pump is working?... the tank pump is low pressure about 5-10 psi. The frame rail pump is higher (not sure of top pressure)... just because you may hear the rear pump come on does not mean that either has ample pressure... If fuel pressure is too low, it will not run.
