I've gotten the idea to build a cat tree. Yes, I'm bored . . . and so is my cat. I'm trying to think up a design for one, but this is the first day of thinking about it so I don't expect much to come up. My cat loves to run around the apartment alot, so I'm thinking of building something that will be along the wall, maybe even "L" shaped to go in a corner. Total length can be up to 8 feet and width should only be 1 foot to 2 feet. The ceiling is around 8 feet, so that's the limit.
My question, as of now, is how do you attach the carpet to the wood? I've found some info, but not much. If anyone has any info or websites that could help me out with this project, I would appreciate it.
Keep in mind that I pretty much just got this idea in my head and I usually get overly excited at first. I would like for something good to come out of this project.
I once made one for my cat that was six feet tall,It was cool,at about four feet,I incorperated a wooden box on the side, that he could climb up into and go to sleep, without the dog constantly waking him up to play, there was also a platform right on top that he would climb up to,And I swear sometimes he would climb up there and say na,na,nana,na to the dog just to get him going.Well that was until the dog figured how to knock it over,And after repairing and replacing a few things in my living room, well the kitty condo had to go.Man was that cat mad at me.Oh by the way,I used a staple gun to hold the carpet,I tried glue at first, but the cat could pull it off, after I stapled it on,he could claw it all he wanted,as long as the dog wasn`t around.
I built one with a friend once that was in a small apartment. Therefore, we need to be creative to accomplish as much area to play with as little floor space taken up. We went with a ramp that was only 6 inches wide. Went up over a window, looked like a shelf, over the entry door and stopped where the cat could see in the kitchen. Minimal amount of wood and shelf brackets and the cats love um. They really like getting above everyone.
You can also use a nail or staple and glue combo.. that carpet wont ever come off.
Instead of going all the way 8 feet high.. go like 6or 6.5 feet tall with a platform on top. Cats love to go up high and just watch everything down below....
same here....give my cat a pen and she is in heaven. bought her many toys that collect dust. loves to climb into boxes as well, and just sit there. she also like the clothes basket when it is empty!! i attemted to make a cat tree once. IT WASN'T PRETTY!!! trashed it after about a week. stapled the carpet to the wood.
Cat house??. are you kidding me, just buy an cheap coffin throw the cat in there and nail it shut. Best place for a cat, oyea then bury it 6ft under he can play for about 3-12 hrs, then you just go buy a dog!!! cats=

That is a bit un-called for,(IMO) it is one thing to dis-like something and quiet another to hurt those that do. Especially animals.
If you had anything that you loved, I am sure you would not like to read a statement about that. Your feelings are yours and you can love or hate anything you want, common decency should prevail here. IMO you comment was very crass. The title of this thread said it all, if you do not like cats why did you stop by and say what you did, NO need to do that, cruse on and go to some other post to reply to.
FTE is a family site, with family values. No need to flame me you have already made your statement, this was mine! We each get one, about this!
Just my thoughts…this is not about me and moderating, it is about politeness!
