Power Steering
One of the last things I need to finish my truck is fixing the leaks in the Bendix power steering gearbox of my 1969 Ford F250. I tried replacing all the seals myself but that did not work. The only way I can get a new gearbox is to spend over $200. So I was wondering if anyone knows what it would take to convert to the Ford steering gearbox which i can pick up for about $70 less than the Bendix. Or does anyone know what other vehicles have the same gearbox so I could possibly try to find one at a junkyard. Thanks.

If you want the Bendix, you're going to get lucky or have to pay.
To swap to the Ford box, you'll have to change columns or shorten the shaft in your column about 2".
From where on your Bendix box is it leaking? Is it at a seal?

I recently swapped out the manual steering box in my 1970 F250 4x2 with a power steering box from a 1976 F250. I bought everything the Steering box, pump, pulley, bracket, belt, lines, steering column and steering wheel. Total cost was $80.00 from Pick and Pull wreckers. It took a weekend to complete the swap. I'm very happy with this conversion and would recommend before shelling out $200 for a gear box. I would locate a doner truck that has a good steering box and buy the whole setup and take everything including all the bolts and fasteners. There is a difference between the 4x2 and 4x4 steering, Hope this helps.
