93 octane gasoline, super, premium. The chip stuff isn't that complicated, they just go between the computer and it's connector, and can be easily removed with no after effects.
$230, check them out at Motorhaven, if you're not familiar with Motorhaven, just click on "Parts Shop" at the top right of this page. It was the most performance gained by any single mod I have done so far. On my 93 it was a bit of a pain to get the chip in because of the location of the ECM, but well worth the hassle. Takes less than an hour. If you need more info, check out the computer tuning forum, Ken (Webmaster) can help you out if you have questions. Do a search there in computer tuning first though, there are lots of questions you can have answered without having to post. Also, if the premium in your area is only 91 octane, don't worry about that because unless you specify it for 93 or higher octane, it will work fine since it will be tuned for 92 octane which will work with 91. Sorry if I lost you in all that
holy crap, alls i can is that i lost you after you said 230!! i cant afford that, i could save up for it, but i got other stuff i need to buy for my truck, like super swampers... haha
but thanks anyways, if i could find one for maybe 30 dolalrs, then were talking!! haha quack
hey, you should check and see what gear ratio's you have. I have the 3.27's and i get like 13-14 in town, went on a trip and i got 17.9 at 65 mph. Should i get better than this on the highway?
You can find them on Ebay, but you'd still be paying over $100 and you'd still have to pay to get it reprogrammed for $35. Like I said, it'll it's worth it for the power but it'll never pay for itself. Just don't buy into those $5 fake chips on Ebay that are out there, they are a scam to get you to buy a 50 cent resister for $5 or more. Sounds like your money will be just as well spent on those swampers.
1998 Ranger SuperCab, 4.0L V-6, 5-speed Automatic with 3.55 rearend. I usual;y get about 18.5 mixed highway and city. I drive pretty hard and accelerate hard off the line so I guess thats pretty good. I can get about 22 on straight highway. I have K&N filter and tornado vortec intake.
tattoofever - what airbox mod did you do to get WORSE gas milage? THat seems strange...... Also Quack - if you are really worried about gas milage, then forget about the Super Swampers! When I my Dunlop mud terrains during the firestone recall, they knocked my gas milage down at least 1 or 2 mpg. THey just weigh so much more than regular All terrains. And swampers are even worse than most Mudterrains. But if you go off-roading very much (i go at least once a month), the mud-terrains are totally worth it. They make so big of a difference off-road.
oh heck yeah, i love to go mudding, i try to go everyday, but when i go everyday, it's usually stuff that is only decent, but fun, nothing to worry about, but just last night i went hardcore mudding, in a marshy field, ended up getting the ranger stuck, over night! just got it out an hour ago, were gonna use a trailer but the basturd got a flat when we were 1/2 way there haha
yeah i have all terrains right now, but ONLY because i got them for free, actaully i will most likely buy those dunlops!

Yeah, the Dunlop Mud Terrains are pretty decent in my opinion. They are pretty much the least expensive Mud terrains you can get, but seem to have pretty good preformance on and off road. Plus, I've had them on my truck for a little over 45,000 miles, and they're just nor getting down to where i need to replace them. Pretty good for a mud-terrain.
PS - Quackhead - what state are you located in? Just wondering if it was anywhere around Indiana.....Always looking for fellow Rangers to go off-roading with.
that's awesome, i have looked all over the net, and i can only find a few BAD reviews on the dunlop mud rovers, and there cheap, so i can afford them lol
well, sorry, unless if wisconsin is near indiana! but if ur ever in the wis. i can take you to some cheesehead state mudding lol
