i'm building a custom panel for my truck and i'm trying to re-use the factory fuel gauge. I'm not good at following the setup on the printed circuit, anybody have a diagram on how the furl gauge is wired?
The sending unit receive a pulsing 5 Volts. The ICVR which converts & sends this voltage is attached to the printed circuit like a 9 volt battery.
The S/U operates by raising & lowering the resistence ,this makes the gauge go up and down.
On a truck with dual tanks the tanks switch is incorporated into the fuel gauging system.Selecting rear or front tank.
The gauge is on a instrument cluster I built myself. The factory wiring is tore up from the previous owner, and it's not worth my time to try and fix it. From the lines on the sending unit to the gauge itself, how do I wire it?
Do you have a stock wiring diagram for your truck? It is easiest to try to work from that type of diagram and make your changes from that. You can buy wiring diagrams from the online store here. Some of them are in service manuals that are available on CD. Some of the aftermarket manuals have some fragments of wiring diagrams in them.
I've got the same problem nothing on my instrument panel works but the speedo, I have a Haynes manual but can't make heads or tails of the wiring diagrahms there. I do know I have a 351m but I don't know what year. I've ran out of gas twice an this is getting old.I checked the wires going to the sending unit and I'm not getting power there. I followed a blue wire with a red strip to the fuse box but I can't get power there either.Whoever put this engine in this truck thought a stereo was more important than anything else,an there are disconnected wires everywhere.I just need a diagrahm that goes from the gas tank to the gauge and to the switch. By they way I cleaaned the ground and I know its good. I would be thankful for any advice.
