improvents with 4bbl, from 2bbl?

Hi everyone.. My 351M runs very well, but of course it is doggy thanks to the iron curtain of emission bureaucrats. In a few more years, my rig will be excempt from any further testing. I have a stock 2bbl, with stock manifold. I am considering upgrading to a 4bbl set up along with manifold to make things breath easier (especially when the cat gets taken off). Has anyone noticed improve performance, or should i say economy only cracking the primaries open on a 4bbl,as opposed to the 2bbl- which open two throttle plates at any speed? I do know once you punch it, the differance in the two will be obvious. But my question is related to every day cruising.. Thanks everyone for your input.

No experience on a 351M but with most other v-8 the part throttle drivability is increased by the more efficient intake and carb. If you don't go too large on the carb size you should get better MPG at light throttle than with the factory set up. As you stated the aftermarket pieces will really wake it up at full throttle.

The old smog dog is probably tired and you probably won't notice a lot of improvement. The 4bbl manifold and carb will not pass visual emissions testing.

Well it was rebuilt, and has 2Ok on it now, so its still fresh, and as far as visual inspections, that will be excempted also. Finally, a reason to smile.

Ive done several ford 2bl to 4 bl swaps....I found a 600-650 cfm carb seems to work best in most cases..Holly makes a 600 cfm that is a bolt on swap to ford 4 bl manifolds..if you cant find a ford manifold I always had good luck with edlebrock single plain models.
