I have been trying to locate a squeeking in the front end, drivers side, of my 98 Expediton for over two weeks. I have lubed everything I can think of. I greased all I can. I get down under it to look while pushing to bounce the truck and cannot seem to pin it down. I replaced the shocks last year. Removed the one in that area, that's not it. Only does it in certain spots as the suspension "cycles". At rest I cannot duplicate with wheels turned off center, and after jumping hard on the running board a few times to test fixes, it will stop until the truck is moved again or driven?????????????????????Any similiars??????????
I had the same problem with my 97 expy about a year ago. It was the pitman arm. A machanic friend suggested injecting grease into the rubber boot behind the pitman arm, but I decided to have it replaced. It cost about $55 and that solved the problem.
I too had same squeak, and it was the pitman arm, get a needle for the grease gun at auto store and grease the boot. turn wheel left and right. should take care of it
Mine is squeaking too. Is the injectable grease just a temporary fix? And does the pitman arm fix the problem for good? Does anyone have any good instructions for either method?
