Question Strange Dilemma

What could it be?

On my 52 f1 the front and rear wheel patterns are different. Just now noticed since I replaced the "stock drum brake" lines. The rear is 5/4.5, the front is 5/5.5...

I thought 5/5.5 is a C**** product, if so whats it doing on my f1? Does this mean that when I go to a disc conversion I have to go with a C**** kit?

Is there a way to measure the spindles to correctly identify them?

I'm getting a strange sick feeling this is gonna cost me good. Please tell me I,m not over my head with this truck and this is just one of those fun things that happens every once and while (my fingers ar crossed).

Thanks,

Andrew

You're OK - well, your truck is anyway..........

Somebody likely swapped in a car rear end so you might be farther ahead. Ford used 5/5.5" on half-ton pickups forever - from the 30's thru '96.

Your front is stock.

The 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern is a ford pattern, it is the f100 5 lug pattern, 5 on 5 is C***Y. Your still safe

Andrew,

Like Tim said, someone probably put a Mustang, Falcon, Torino, or other Ford passenger car rear end in your truck. Just get a kit for the front that uses rotors with a 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern. I think there's one available that uses Granada rotors which should do the job. If you want to keep the 5 on 5.5 pattern, just change the rear end back to a 57-72 truck rear and get the disc brake kit that keeps the 5 on 5.5 pattern.
