I have a 94 f-150 4x4 ext cab with a 4.9 i6 and mazda 5spd.
The 3.08 gears that are in there are cutting back my power I would think.
So what would be the best gear for street use and good pulling power(fuel mileage in mind)with a 31/10.5/15
And also what is the biggest tire that will fit stock And the best gear for that
you might could fit 32's but thats pushing it. i would think your best bet would be to go to a junk yard and pull an axle with a 3.55 rear and just swap it in place of yours. if you re-gear yours it would run close to 500 bucks. you could probably pick up and axle for 100. hope all goes well and good luck.
For 32s, get some 3.73s. If you have any plans of going bigger on tires, don't bother until you know what size you'll end up with. 32s fit well on a stock 4x4, may rub the radius arm a bit though, not a problem. Parts are about $550 and it's not really an easy thing to do but possible. Check out the axle forum for more info, this forum is for general info.
The dana 44 will be a 3.54 ratio not a 3.55, but most of the 4x4s had 3.55/3.54s in them so it shouldn't be hard to find if you search the right places.
