Hello everyone. I'm trying to find a good motel on the beach in Clearwater. My wife, son and myself want to vacation there in July. Heard it was a real nice beach. Any recommendations would help. We live in virginia and have never been to clearwater. thanks
I live in Tampa but im not too familar with any of the places to stay over there. This is what i found on Hotels.com:Clearwater Hotels I had to put in some dates in but you can change it by doing a search with them.
Clearwater in July! Wow, talk about hot and sticky! Most Floridians with the means to do so are headed towards cooler climes, like the Southern Appalachians during July. Anyway there are plenty of great beaches in Florida and July should get you some good bargains on hotel rates. I particularly like the Atlantic coast beaches from Martin County north and the Gulf coast beaches on the north side of the gulf.
if youre driving this far you may as well drive about a hour farther south to bradenton, sarasota, venice, or fort myers beach they are a lot nicer and have clearer water.
thanks for the info guys. FF97 How is panama city beach beaches and water compare to the beaches you suggested and clearwater beach. I was in panama city beach last september playing softball tournament. stayed at holiday in sunspree resort. I thought that was real nice.

Panama City has some of the finest beaches in Florida. On the other hand I seem to recall more than a few times spent inebriated and offensive while in the Redneck Riviera...of course while attending UF many moons and several decades ago. I second the Ft. Myers suggestion. There are some nice quiet beaches in that area that are good for families. Also check out the beaches between Daytona and Jacksonville. The Atlantic coast beaches are also very nice and in that area some secluded spots CAN be found...not in Daytona, of course. Ft. Lauderdale beach is also very nice, clean and very convient if you stay nearby. No where as much problems as Miami. If you are bringing kids down stay clear of South Miami Beach. SoBe is a NO-GO zone for myself. Last time I walked on the SoBe I spotted several of my students (I teach 18 year old High Schoolers) top-less, bottom-less and generally NEKKID! SoBe is great for the young folks (18-35) but terrible to bring kids to...unless you WANT you kids to see nekkidness, bad tatoos and pierced parts of peoples bodies they should not be familiar with! By the way some of the water theme parks in the Orlando area are quite fun and I think worth the money. If you take a room in Orlando you can easily hit the beaches on either coast (about a 50 mile ride from the coast in either direction) and have the fun of Orlando. Orlando is also pricey but bargains CAN be found.
Just don't forget that Florida in July is going to be at least as hot as Virginia in July but we also have the wicked nasty summer monsoon storms that come virtually every afternoon. If you have not gone through one of the Florida 'gator drenchers you may not understand just how bad they can be! My advice regarding the storms is to get a VERY early start and get off the beach by 3pm latest.
