mazda 5sp tranny

I was in the local yard today and saw a 1988 aerostar with a 5sp mazda tranny..does anybody know if its the same tranny thats in the f-150..i need a tranny bad..the aerostar was a v-6 and my truck is the 4.9

Nope, not the same. Aerostar will be a M5R1 and yours is a M5R2. M5R1 is a lighter duty transmission.

figures my luck....that yard only wanted $50 for the tranny...all other yards want $500 plus
