To build a stout motor...I could see $10,000 dollars real easy. Good parts in motor $5000, another $3500 for blower, then $1500 for carbs and accy's.

I think I had $3500 in my stuff all together, motor and all. Granted a good crank(like a 391 steel truck crank turned down), plus Eagle rods, forged pistons will add it up another $2000 when all said and done. As time goes I will start getting pieces collected. I'd like to race the car sometime in the future...maybe even put motor in the wagon. I think a blown FE stick shift wagon would be pretty cool.

The black car started out as a $1000 southern basket case. It ran, was partially disassembled and not much paint left. It got stripped, repainted, motor, complete chassis rebuild so far. The interior still needs help and chrome parts are always needed. Chrome parts are priced out of reach for most anyone with a normal job....so that stuff will have to wait. It started as a daily driver and went down hill....my friends still call it my "winter beater"

Where is this Flatlander out of?
If you want a GOOD FE place, my guy here is excellent. No doubt in my mind.

I had a Vortech blower on my '96 F350 460ci. It was pretty cool and IF I had not sold it(the sc) I think I would have tried to retro fit it to the 352 in my '67 . Buy a Paxton carb box and bolt it on. 6 lbs will wake anything up.

I was planning on getting the stroker kit and having my block machined. I was going to install the kit myself after having the kit balance checked. I live in Yuma Az. so any place between San Diego and Phoenix that does stroker kits would be great. Any other places that offer strokers kits that you guys/gals recomend? I would like to find a place familiar with BDS blowers since I am going with them for the 8-71 kit with intercooler and cam.

You can deal direct with BDS. I just went through Carl to get a dealer discount(that's what a sponsor is for...right?)

Don't be afraid if a lady answers the phone at BDS and she IS the tech person . Been through that and she was helpful and I did get the right parts .

I would assume that SCAT has a crank/stroker kit for FE's, since they offer a crank now. I run their 428 crank and so far so good. It was a fairly nice piece and the tolerances were good. Since I already lost a motor to a 35yr old cast unit, I figure why spend $500 for another when you can get a NEW one for $700. I waited for 11 months trying to get a billet, but they were not going to have it done, so I got the cast one.

If you are looking for someone to have a complete rotating assy ready to put in a block, I'm sure my guy would make it up and ship it. Of course I'm over yonder in Ohio though. He's done all my FE stuff for the last 15yrs.
