Projected power output help!

I've got an 84 F-150 with a Hi-Output 302 in it.

I just recently came across a 76 lincoln with a 460, c6 in it with a little over 45,000 miles.

My question is this: after putting on (lets say) a Performer Intake, Holley 750 dp, put in a torquey/drag cam, installed headers, and changed the timing set back to a 71....what kind of power would I be expecting to make.

Secondly: would anyone have a good cam suggestion that would give me some nice ummmph for an occassional drag run? I'm not super serious about dragging, but we go often just to fool around with heads up and bracket.

Thirdly, with the automatic, I'm going to be installing a street shift kit (the BM one)...but what i'm debating on installing is a clutch pack and possibly a low rpm (17-2000) stall converter.

With all of the above considered (along with 3.50 or 3.73 rears) would I have something that is quick stop light/stop light, as well as on the strip? And of course what sort of power would I expect?

If you did some mild porting (port matching and such) and bumped the CR to 9.5:1, DD shows torque at 496 lb-ft @ 3500 rpm and HP at 405 @ 5000 rpm with the Lunati Street/Strip Avenger.

If you left the CR stock and didn't mess with the heads at all, DD comes up with 464 lb-ft torque @ 2500 rpm and 328 HP @ 4000 rpm.

A pretty much stock 460 would put a silly grin on your face compared to the 302.

My 82 3/4 ton 4x4, with a swapped 460 has 3.54 gears. You have to let it get rolling a little before you punch it or it will just go up in smoke. I also have a B&M shift kit in it. This old truck has took quite a few people in newer trucks by suprise.

But to do this in your 84 you will need from and including the transmission forward. The parts are out there though.

Thanks for the replies....luckily with having a shop of our own, and my dad and his buddy collecting ford stuff, he has two big block c6's sitting on a shelf....

However my next q is this: Does the big block c6 mount differently to the truck, or does it use the same crossmember as the small block c6?

Is your truck a 2 wheel drive?

If so the long bodied C-6 will fit. The 4x4 case is shorter.

I would assume it would use the same crossmember. There should be holes in the frame where you can move it if necessary.

There are different options to mount the engine. You can use factory pieces, which is what I did, or use L&L adapter mounts. I used all van brackets for the alt & power steering, switched to the Saginaw steering pump, remote oil filter mount, 460 throttle cable bracket. Which I have an extra of those. Van exhaust manifolds.
