I have a chance to demo an Edge tuner and chip for my 97. Do any of you have Edge on the older trucks? I know they're awesome on the 6.0. I'm being told by the rep that I can run the chip on my PCM and also use the tuner at the same time for gains up to 130 horse. Is this possible??
Gettting gains up to 130hp is possible. But... If you do that u will want to make sure you go to a 4" downpipe off the trubo, or things won't go as planned...
Ok, here's what the rep gave me, the Edge EZ module and the Evolution tuner. He said I could use both together. The EZ module looks like a glorified adjustable 10k mod and the tuner has three setting up to 100 horse. Do you think I'll have any problems using both at the same time. I guess I'll have to remove my regular 10k resistor when I hook this stuff up.
I love free toys!!!
I installed the EZ Module today and it ws very easy to do, having problems with the programmer though. It powers up but keeps giving me an error code #10 and tells me to call Edge. Well, Edge isn't open on Saturday. Any of you had this problem before?? The rep told me the Evolution programmer should work on all 7.3's regardless of year or computer code. I wonder if this one doesn't work on my 97?? Any suggestions??
Hey I don't think it would matter but try using the tuner without the EZ installed. That's what I always did when I had a tuner and the Edge EZ stacked. It sounds though that you may have gotten a faulty tuner IF you're following the tuner directions to the T.
Went to the shop today and installed the Turbo Timer for the rep so he could take pictures and do an article. I showed him what the tuner was doing and he showed me on the instructions where ir read 94-03 7.3 liter. I tried it on a 95 at work and the same thing happened, tried a 99 ine it worked. Aparrently there must be two different tuners, one for 97 and older and one for 99 and newer. He's going to contact Edge on Monday and get another tuner for me. I guess I'll just have to wait a few days. My truck feels terrible now with no chip and no 10k!!! Feels almost as slow as my brother-in-laws 6.5 Chevy!!!
Got a replacement Evolution tuner today and successfully installed it!! Edge didn't have my TDE1 code in their program on the tuner so that's why it wouldn't work. Going to try it out tonight then dyno it next weekend stock, stock with the ez module then with the Evolution and the EZ module! Can't wait to see what it does.
