... and third is that I love the way all the SF bay area Prius owners look at me as if I were the sole cause of global warming. Trust me, you won't lose your Super Duty truck in a parking lot in San Francisco...
I still cant post pictures yet so here is a link to a great comic about what you mentioned...
Oh...and the comic strip/blog is pretty wierd. Half of them I simply dont get but some of them are pretty funny.
you went from a 2000 to a 2011 do you notice a great difference in the turning radius?
Yep, the '11 definitely turns sharper than my '00, plus the '11 is a foot or 2 longer since I have the CC now whereas my '00 was an extended cab.
One trick I learned long ago is that if you're going to pull straight into a spot, pull up behind the car on the outside of your turning radius, then back up once cranking the wheel in the opposite direction, then pull straight in.
The 2011 F-250 has a very tight turning radius for a vehicle that size. Way better than my Nissan Armada (a big SUV) and about the same as my Nissan Mirano (a mid-sized SUV). Still, a crew cab with a short bed is 20' long and doesn't fit in a typical single parking spot. That's my exercise program - walking from the back of the parking lot.
The turning radius improved a lot in 05 when they started using coil springs in the front end. The 08 and newer ones have improved even more.
The width of these trucks makes it hard to squeeze in many parking spots. Sometimes I'll push in my mirrors so the other people dont have to do the limbo to get by.
I have a 2000 extended cab short bed and I can usually park in any spot I want if I back into it, I've found that to be the easiest for me, and you know when you're in the parking spot when your ball hit's the car's license plate behind you Just kidding on that last one but I've done it once or twice
Backing in has another advantage. My truck has a backup camera and sensors, but no sensors on the front (unlike my SUV). It's easy to pull in too far and whack the car in front of you.
Parking in the boonies rules...side note...when.this thread was started, my baby was probably awaiting its trip from Kentucky to New Jersey to start its pampered life... 6-99 dob
i will stuff my excursion anywhere, i always park up front as to make sure at least one side is door ding safe. i back in/pull in forward about 50/50 just depends.
parallel parking downtown is my fav! my friends always say "you cant fit there" and i always do!
The newer trucks 05+ with the coil overs front suspension are tighter turning then the obs and early 99-04 trucks. Still can be tight but not to ad. My 2010 350 s/c lb can be hard at times but it didn't take to long to get used to. I wish my 97 OBS would turn as agile as the 2010 does.
