I am trying to decide the best cam for my truck. I was thinking about the 265DEH. While talking to Comp Cams they said I would be better off with the Xterme energy XE256H. anyone have any experience with these cams?
I don't have files for Comp cams XE cams, so I have to input the specs manually. Here is what I got with 9:1CR and ported heads, headers and dual plane intake, 600 CFM.
These are Dual Pattern cams. The XE256 is 256/268, 0.487/0.493. The XE 262 is 262/270, 0.513/0.520. The XE256 looks good in all categories, except the 265DEH has a little more peak Horsepower. The biggest advantage of the XE256 is in the overlap having only 42 degrees. It will idle smoother and produce better gas mileage.
The IVC of the XE256 is 54 degrees vs 58.5 degrees for the 265DEH. This will increase the Dynamic Compression Ratio slightly, but it will run on 91 or higher.
