Replacement clutch not working

I have a 1982 Ford F100. I have just installed a replacement clutch and the adjustment linkage runs all the way to the end of the travel to get any tension at all. Pressure plate, disk, and release bearing appear to be good. I am at a loss. Any ideas would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! Frustrated Ford Man

The Throwout bearing isnt backwards? Dont know any particulars about this year but is there a cup on the clutch fork at the linkage that is missing? My old GMC had a steel cup that i had almost left out years ago.
