Question slight vibration in steering

I have a 96 Explorer Limited 5.0 with AWD-I just noticed a vibration in the steering when I turn the wheels to the left or right, but more noticeable to the right. I know for a fact that it happened due my truck being towed because it didn't do it before. I am hoping it's a simple alignment problem, but a mechanic told me it could be the wheel rubbing against the shocks. It dosen't make any noise, just vibration. Also no vibration at all while driving straight, only at a certain point when the wheel is turned. The tires are Goodyear Wranglers about 6 months old and have given me no problems. Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks

If the tires are rubbing on the shocks, you should be able to see a wear spot on the shocks. How many miles on the tires? Any uneven wear on the inner or outer edges of the tread? Have they been rotated recently? If not, try rotating them and see if anything changes.

I'm going to pull the wheels and look for wear and at the same time rotate them-the tires were on the truck when I bought it, but they looked brand new so I'm going to assume about 10,000 miles on them. Thanks for the advice

Well, the tires and shocks show no wear, but since this just started I don't expect the tires to show much wear. I found out that the truck was towed on a flat bed so that might rule out that possibility. I also checked steering fluid and that is full. I looked for my tire rod to lower the spare and that is missing so I will have to replace before rotating tires.

Well, I think it was nothing more than some air in the power steering, after a day of driving around with lots of turns the vibration stopped and everything is smooth again-must have happened at the shop. Anyway, the mechanic tried to tell me it was tires rubbing and that I should bring it in-glad I hesitated.
