engine identification??

engine identification??
I just picked up a 70 f-250 with a hopped up engine, block embosed 352. I was told it was a '66 390 police interceptor motor. How would I confirm that? Also any ballpark figure on what a running '68 390 (needs rear main bearing) is worth? Thanks

You cant tell from what i understand, the 353, 360, and 390 are all the same block. You will have to get a wire or something, take out the spark plug and do a measurment when the piston is down. Do a search and you will find the details somewhere.

if its a police interceptor like he stated the guy said it was then casting #'s will tell you if it is or not. if its not a police interceptor then its a guessing game till you do a stroke check.
360=3.5 stroke
390=3.78 stroke
428=3.98 stroke
360=3.5 stroke
