Slide in camper for a F250 4x4 CC diesel

You need to load your truck with passengers, fuel & "stuff" that you take camping then have it weighed. Once you know the loaded vehicle weight, you can subtract that from the 8800 lb GVWR (assuming it's a 49-state model). This will give you the payload / camper size for your truck.
My '01 F350 SRW 4x4 CC w/V10 weighed right at 7500 lbs with me, my wife, a full tank of gas & 5th wheel hitch.

If you stick to a camper 9' or less (floor length) and don't go with a heavy fiberglass model or one with a slideout, you will likely be ok. Remember that the weight the manufacturers provide for campers is the usually the 'dry' weight, with no options, batteries, propane, generator, AC, water, electric jacks, etc. Campers can get heavy real quick once you start loading them... Also, remember to save youself some payload for the tongue weight of any trailer you may want to pull behind your camper/truck.
