Several people here at the dealership have been taking advantage of this program we're running, and getting new F-150s. Somebody said to me, "Hey, Jeff, why don't you trade in that old Ranger of yours and join us?" Yeah, right! The LAST thing I need is a new truck- that's next year, maybe. Then he said, "let me run the numbers for you!"
I pick up a Bright Red STX Supercab tomorrow.................
I'll tell ya: CAR DEALERS!! Never open your mouth in a showroom, 'cause it will cost you money, every time!

All right Jeff!!! Now our mighty leader is one of us. One more question Jeff. I ordered last friday and orders are pulled by Ford on Thursday. Does that mean on friday I should be able to get more information? Like the build week?
as a salesman, doesn't the dealer give you a vehicle to drive??
Not here. Our dealership doesn't have demonstrator models. Our pricing policy would make it very difficult to sell them, because we discount everything. We can't con someone into thinking that we get sticker price for one with no miles, so that we can give them a great deal on a demonstrator. Besides, the NY Attorney General has decided that new-car demonstrators are used cars as far as our lemon-law is concerned. So, instead of getting 24 months or 18000 miles to find out it's a lemon, you only get 90 days or 4000 miles. That's just not enough time to REALLY find out if it's a lemon or not.
Now, how many OTHER New York State dealers would tell you that?
I just started selling at a Ford dealership in Oregon and I'm having lots of fun. My biggest problem is that I want to own EVERY thing I get in and drive. You can bet I'll be driving something new if things go well at the dealership. Either a new Ranger or F-150. Maybe get my fiance a new Escape... Then again, the Sport Trac's aren't bad either
I watched the help wanted ads in the paper for months until a Ford dealership had an opening, wouldn't even want to try selling anything else. Feels good to see a happy customer jump in his new F350 CC LWB 4x4 Lariat PSD, with a big smile on his face as he drives off.
