How Many Remember These.....

I worked with a guy years ago that was into restoring Studebakers. He and his brother had a restored '58 "Stude" pickup. It had a 289cid V-8,a manual tranny, and 4.27:1 axle gearing.I learned a lot about Studebaker from them.Just like Ford,Studebaker had a 289cid V-8.Another interesting thing was they used a 352cid.....Packard engine in many of their late-50's cars.I haven't seen Paul,or his brother Chuck, for about 11 years now,but I always remember their Studebakers. They were restoring a '57 Golden Hawk which was a really sharp-looking car,I thought. The one Studebaker I'd like to drive is a '63 Avanti with the R4(supercharged)289 Studebaker V-8.They,supposedly were really quick.Anyway, since I was always a Ford guy(and ALWAYS will be...)I would give them ideas of possible engine/tranny swaps for their pickup. They liked the 390 FE big-block&C-6 idea. Now that I think it over more,a 521cid 385-series big-block stroker sounds even cooler.....hhhmmm.
