Have an interesting problem gonig on.
First the basics, 99, 4.0 SOHC, Auto, XLT, 61,000, no CEL. New air filter, fuel filter, trans service all done at 59,000. The problem preceeded this work.
Now for the problem.... sometimes.... and not all the time, it is hard to start the truck. It will crank excessively for about 15 to 20 seconds, then finally catch. This will only happen after I have started up from cold, and attempt to restart at any point before the engine is cold again. Now here is the anomoly... if I turn the key to on and hold it there for about 5 seconds, then start it.... it starts right up. Have thought about the FPR, but I thought that would give me a problem stating from cold. I have no idle problems so the IAC and MAF are not the problem either. There are no misfires, hesitation or surging... so needless to say I'm at a loss.
Whenever theres a problem starting its either going to be spark or fuel related.
You could start simple and try some injector cleaner. Start with that simple, cheap solution and see if it makes a difference in the first couple days.
Figured that would be the case... I bought the truck used less then a year ago from a dealer... figured that they would have done a complete tune up prior to sale... but who knows... I'll be pulling the plugs this weekend and dump a bottle of injector cleaner in with the next tank. I'll let you know what I find.... and thanks for the quick reply.
Well just got done installing the new plugs and wires.... problem solved. The plugs were original, so they were due to be replaced. Thanks for the help.
Only If,...... Even If It Is Little Of A Noise,,, I Would Do It...i Am Living My Nightmare Right Now...... I Hope Everything Is Fixed,, I Am Taking It Day By Day,,,,..........
