My '99 SD 5.4 had a mild tick in it from the start that is only noticeable when warm and idling. You cannot hear it unless the windows are down or you are outside the vehicle. It is more noticeable from below the truck then above with the hood open. It reminds me of a lifter tick. I think it may have lessened a bit now that I have 2900 miles on it. Anybody else experience this? Of course I will have the service dept deal with it but I would like a head start on what it is if anybody can help.

A pinch of salt or a hot match head generally will get them to simply let go and fall off. However they do sound like that Bud Weasle
