electric fan

I have a 76 250 with a 390. I was thinking about puting an electric fan on it and was wondering if its a major improvement in power gains and cooling gains? also when i off road it heats up faster and was thinking about puting a push fan infront of the radiator to turn on when im off road and was wondering if that was also a good decision and if it would take care of my problems. thanks for any imput

I was wondering how much of a horsepower/torque gain is it to remove the fan? and is it as good or better at cooling the engine down? also i live in Yuma, AZ where in the summer a cool day is considered 110 degrees

I personally like the stock set-up with the HD fan clutch and the super-cooler radiator and a shroud that fits right. I would guess electric is worth something in HP, but to me, it doesn't seem worth it. A pusher would surely help but for the life of me I can't see how to fit one in between the condensor and the grill/center support. Did you read the red rag test in the link? How does yours do?

I was thinking about adding an electric fan just to have another switch in the cab. I'm going to make this thing look like an airplane on the insidle. Yep, I'm a dork. I would be able to justify it if it had a practicle application.

Too funny! I'm actually looking at putting one in my truck. Driving through deep water is causing a big mess with the stock fan because it's throwing mud and water all over my engine. Going to have a switch inside that I can flip off when I hit water so I don't drown my poor engine.

I'm going to remove the stock fan and go with a Zirgo 16" electric. They're thin too so check into them if you want a pusher and don't have much room for it. Electric fans will give you a very slight increase in HP but nothing too significant. If you're overheating I would just add it as a pusher.
