If I push the clutch to the floor I still can't get it in gear. It is a 80 f 250 with inline 6. It looks to me like mechanical linkage is "intact". At least it is all there and moves with the pedal. Is there some internal hydraulic part that could need bleeding???
Mark
No. either the linkage is bent, or your clutch fingers are worn out. I'd probably go with the latter if the clutch hasn't been replaced or you have 200k miles on it.
The clutch worked fine before I parked it for 9 months. I did not think it was a ware probleb but it could be bent. That is the direction I am headed anyway thanks for your help.

Did you check and see if the little spherical bushings were still intact? After sitting so long they may have just rotted away. They're the ones that the tube pivots on; one on a bracket at the bell housing and other on the frame.
I just tried adjustung the free play adjuster. I adjusted it out quite a bit and it did not seem to make any diference. I was thinking if it was some worn part that adjusting it would "take out the slak" at least temporarily. Is the clutch arm where it goes into the transmission suposed to be loose?? What does it pivot on? I realy do not want to pull this thing apart if I do not have to because it is parked in the grass and it is a muddy mess to get under.

sounds like the pressure plate may be stuck to the clutch/flywheel from sitting. Usually they'll free up after playing with them. If you start it in gear with the cluch in and it still pulls forward that's the problem. Good way put another door on the opposite wall in your garage!
Jumper the clutch override safety switch.
Start the truck in gear. While driveing, hold the clutch to the floor and keep nailing the gas and letting off.
Repeat until broken free!
I have done this several times with 100% sucess!
bremen242 is right, you shouldn't even have to override the switch. Other than that, 8lugs has just about got it. There is no easy way. Just get into a nice open area and give it a go! You might have to get a little rough with it, but it'll come free.
