I have heard several commemts on after market exaust sys. stating the V-10 sounds lousey. Has anyone got first hand knowledge of one that sounds great?
I had a Flowmaster 40 series single/dual installed with 2.5" tails into 4" chrome tips. Sounds real good...not as good as V8, but definately has a unique tone to it. Sounds real good at idle and
not annoying at highway speeds.
I've talked about mine on here before, but didn't seem to strike up much interest. On e guy did want to listen to it on the phone.
I have had alot of compliments on the sound of my 99 superduty 4x4 V-10.
It is a custom exhaust that really wasn't much work or change. I had a Y-pipe installed behind the catalytic converter, from there I ran dual straight pipes 3 inch in diameter along each side, and finished it off with 4 inch by 22 inch echo tips coming out behind the back tires on a 45 degree angle. Looks real sharp and sounds awesome, especially when you stomp your foot in it. Has a great deep rumble when you downshift. Of course, that would be the missing link on an automatic.
I have heard 3 different V10s with different versions of exhaust systems. The 1st was essentailly stright pipes Yed out after the Cat. the second was a single inlet dual outlet Dynomax the 3rd was a custom cat back system with a glass pack.
the best way that I could describe it was HORRIBLE! Kind of reminded me of a 4 cylinder car that the exhaust fell off of.
I have done cat back exhaust on my last 3 trucks but will be saving my money on this one.
