Well, im really considering air bags for leveling the front of my truck.
Has anyone done that? And if so, do you have before and after pics of the truck? How much are they good for in the front?
Ive been looking at these http://www.truckspring.com/airspring...duct/57154.asp
I've got airbags on the front of my truck, apparently put there by the previous owner to eliminate sag. The problem I had with them for that purpose, was they make the ride so rough. If you inflate them enough to level the truck, you've taken the shocks out of the equation altogether, making the truck ride like a buckboard. I opted for the ORU reverse shackle kit, which raised the front of the truck about 3", and allows me to run without any air in the front. I get a lot better ride this way, and Mrs. Quadzilla doesn't need to wear dual sport bras.
The ORU kit is a little more money, but worth it in my opinion.
I do not have air bags in the front but I havem in the back. LOVE them. They have paid for themselves ten fold, when towing my fifthwheel. They also make my ride much smoother. However Quadzilla is right if you need to fill them up so much that it takes the shocks out of the equation, then that ride is gonna hurt. I recommend a leveling kit. That is what I have in the front with the bags in the back. Rides like a caddy. By the way if you do put air bags in SPEND THE MONEY FOR THE ON BOARD COMPRESSOR. Make your life easier. That compressor with the in cab controls takes all the guess work out of leveling and air pressure that is in the bags. You have to keep a min of 5 psi in them to keep the fittings tight. Just like tires your bags will lose a little pressure over time and stopping at a service stn to find out the compressor doesnt work sucks. Esp if you spent 20 min trying to get your trailer and truck in close enough to even use it. You will like the bags though Good Luck
I have the same setup as Quad, the reverse shackle kit is worth the money. What year truck do you have, the kit will fit 98 and earlier trucks, I believe the newer trucks are setup with the shackle already on the trailing end of the front spring.
