Hey guys, first post hear so be gentle. LOL Looking to order a 4" exhaust for my 01 f350. I found different size downpipes. Do i want a 4" or 3 1/2"? Also what air cleaner do you guys run as a factory replacement? K&N, Kool Blue...
Thanks, Hossy.
If you want to retain your factory airbox then just about anything will flow better then the original filter. The factory seal on the box is questionable and in some cases known to fail and the turbo will suck air from atop the filter instead of through it.
Anyway, aftermarket assemblies and filter issues are a major point of contention and opinion on this site so I recommend searching threads on this site that have "Tymar", "AIS" and "K & N" as key words. Draw your own conclusions.
Then come back if you have any further questions, and we'll continue with another one.
Heatstroked is right 4 in is better but you'll want a chip or tuner if you go that big. You'll lose a lot of bottom end without one, not enough back pressure. Also do not get a K&N with the stock air box. It will leak dust through. But if you go with a airaid intake and a K&N you'll be fine. The araid intake and K&N work well together. A lot of guys like the Tymar and AIS these are also great intake systems too. But most important get the gauges before you do anything. It is not worth burning up your truck because you did not want to spend the couple extra bucks.
Plenty of current threads on air filters for you to check out. Bottom line, Ford is know for airboxes that don't seal properly. Make a decision on which intake you think is best for you.
My major cross streets are 67th Deer Valley Rd. Glendale. (Arrowhead Ranch) There is a station just a block west of that intersection.
Where is #32, I have a friend who is a firefighter stationed at the 51st Happy Valley station? or close to that address anyway. Of course he roamed all over for a year or two before he got settled.
Im at stn 42 32nd ave and Greenway. Not to far from you. The stn you live buy is Glendale fire. What is your friends name at 51st? That is stn 48, What shift is he on?
Tim Steckler, haven't talked to him in ages, he moved out of my hood so he wouldn't get crap about living outside of the city he works for. Have to be a resident of the city you work in I guess. We were neighbors when we lived at 75th and Utopia.
How did he end up there? Thought that he had a permanent station up on Happy Valley? Or is he still a roamer? drifter, or whatever the term you guys use?
"I run a 14.1 @ 81 mph here in phx. 4 in exhaust turbo back, straight pipe, gauges, Predator tuner, Airaid intake with K&N and precleaner, wicked wheeel, big head wastegate."

Saw this in a previous post, is your Wicked Wheel in or out?
He was a rover for a long time. He had a long term temp at stn. 37 on 40th st. and bell. Then he took the spot at 44 about a month ago. I haven't seen him since he took it. Stn 37 is by my house on the east side so I would run into him once in a while. I was on another shift then though.
