cd player options

Hi there, I posted yesterday about the display on my head unit going out. I have decided to go to a new head unit. I know that I loose the rear contol, and probably the changer too ( it is the mach system on the EB with the changer in the console). I am wondering if it will still power the factory subwoofer? I am getting ready to call crutchfield.

What about mounting. We have that huge hole left over and I know that you can buy the kits to mount in the dash, but that just leaves an inch or so black abs plastic on top and bottom of the head unit. I am just thinking that it will not look right. Anyone have any creative suggestions that they have used? Maybe you could post a pic or two, or send them to me at Parr8hed@insightbb.com

Now what about DVD players? Should I go ahead and get a CD/DVD player and get monitors later when I have the $?

I am just trying to see what others have tried and hopefully learn from your experience.

After looking I think that I am going to go with the pioneer DVH P5000MP. This is a dash mount din sized CD/DVD/AM/FM receiver. It is also satelite ready. Anybody have dealings with this unit yet? Later after I recover from the price of the head unit, I can add a flip down video screen in the above head console, and a couple in the seat backs. Has anyone tried this? Would make road trips easier!
