V10 hp?
First of all love the truck and I'm convinced it's
the best. Now I'd like to discuss a couple of things. Where did ford come up 275 HP.From what I have seen it's 220 at the rear wheels. When did ford stop using SAE HP that was the base line
started in 1972 for rating auto HP?
Next I've been reading about your mpg and I only
get 9mpg in the city.Whats up with that? The truck
seems to run good and it's been like that since
day one 9/98 and has 8200mi. Also I work at a
multi dealer body shop and we sell GMC trucks[yuk]
The quoted HP by the manufactures is measured at the engine, and not at the rear wheels. Based on all the different Trans and diff. combinations, they only rate the engine so it's the same for all configurations.
The 275 HP Ford quotes for the 99 and 99.5's is measured there. You will likly see a 15-25% reduction in this at the rear wheels. My 2000, which was rated at 310 HP would measure around 245 HP is I could get past the speed limiter. You can see the my results at http://ic.net/~wawii/Dyno/
As far as fuel milage, I'm seeing better than you, but I'm not doing any true city driving with mine. I have noticed that accelerating does pull a lot of fuel, unless you do real slow acceleration. My fuel usage log is at http://ic.net/~wawii/MPG/00F250SD/
My SD is a Y2K F-250 Crew Cab Short Bed 2WD Auto w/3.73LS.
Hope this helps,
Will
