I'm in the process of rebuilding the 360 engine in my 72 F-250. Replaced the manifold, carb, cam etc. I'm trying to find some raised aluminum valve covers but I can't find any for the 360 engine. I'd prefer to stay away from the stamped steel Motorcraft, Edelbrock coves. I like the "Powered by Ford" script but all I've located in aluminum are ones that say "Cobra Powered" all over them. (not appropiate for my engine). Can someone point me in the right direction where to look? What have others done with their covers? Do you have some good engine pic's of your restored 360's, 390's?
Along the dress up line, does anyone know of any good header paint that won't burn off in the first 100 miles? The highest heat engine paint I've found is 1200 degree's. That won't cut it. Any ideas?
Not sure about the valve covers. I like my factory ones just fine. If anything I wanna get them chromed which I called a local shop and they want $85.
On the headers, I use Krylon 1200 degree BBQ grill paint it and it holds up fine. I've got lots of good pictures of my fresh 352/390 but they aren't really on the net yet.
I have some fairly good pics of my 1969 Ford F250. Just go to my gallery. Let me know what you think of them. You'll notice that the paint burned off my headers. When I got the headers there was a primer coat on it so I called the company and they said that the paint would not burn off, but it all burned off the first time I started it. I do think that you can get paint specifically made for headers that you can get at Autozone.
