Registration Cost

I am looking to buy a 1976 Ford F-150 4x4. It has a 390 motor with headers and a 4 barrel carb. It can be seen at

https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...?&albumid=9404

The only problem is that its previous owner let the tags expire in August of 2000, and did not place the truck under a non-op. If the truck were to be registered in the next two months, what would it cost? I am thinking 400-500 dollars. Another question is, is it possible to smog it? It has true dual exhaust, most likely from one of its prior owners, I.E. two mufflers. I really want to buy the truck and I'm willing to try a lot of different things to make it legal. Some people have told me that if it was not sold here in California from the dealer, it only has to meet federal emissions standards and not our strict california emission standards. Thanks for your help.

I don't know about the smogging...but you are in the right ballpark as far as tagging it goes

Thanks Zombie, I have heard of them letting some 76's go on smog, but knowing my luck, they'll want me to smog.
