oOk here it is. just bought a 92 ranger 4cyl. 5 speed it has air but does not work. The guy i got it from said it was low on freon. But he was to cheap to pay the price for R-4 refridgerant so am i is a 92 new enough to convert to the cheaper stuff ( i forget what it is called) thanks in advance for any help.

There is a thread in "cooling, heating, ventalation, and A/C" forum on how to convert from R12 to 134a.

yes, you can convert to r134a. It is easy to do, the main thing is just replacing the valves on the high and low side, then putting in the new r134a. The problem with the new stuff is that the molecular make up of the freon is smaller, so any crack or leak in your refrigerant system will be more noticeable.
