squeaky exploder
ive got a 96 4wd with a 4.0 and its been squeaking really bad recently. it sounds like metal rubbing up against metal kinda, like a bike chain that needs to be oiled. it gets faster as i go faster, and its starting to get louder and louder. i just replaced the hub today but no dice, i dont know where to go next. any ideas on what else it could be? anything would help, thanks!

squeakiness worsening
nope, this sounds like something needs to be oiled. sounds like it might be coming from a little farther back than the wheel though. now theres a clunking noise too, nothing to loud, but it goes along with the squeaking. i wont hear it after starting from a stop unless i floor it or go above a certain speed. and when i brake it doesnt go away, but it does silence it just a bit, could this be a bad u-joint or something with the front diff or transfer case? never dealt with 4wd before so im clueless, thanks again for your replies.

found it
turns out it was the u-joint on the front drive shaft that were causing the squeaking, clicking, and extreme bumpiness above 61mph. yay, ive got the double cardan type line so ive gotta replace 3 u joints. but took it out for a test spin with the line off and it drove like new. thanks for the input!
