axel width?
I recently purchased a 1997 F250 HD 4x4, 460 automatic, short bed super cab. Is it possible my front axel is wider than my rear? I keep hitting the curb with my front tire. I have a 4" lift with 35" tires. Maybe I just don't see so well any more.

I have a 96 250 HD 4x4 460 auto super cab that is the same way. My son inlaw was driving behind me the other day and said it was pretty obvious. If I were to put 12.50s on they would probably stick out 2-3" on each side up front and be covered in the rear. I was thinking of putting spacers behind the rear wheels but I hate to do that,I will probably just live with it. If anybody knows of a thread that covers this please let me know.

My 92 F350 4x4 is the same way, front axle about 2 or so inches wider than the rear. I saw a tech article about doing an axle swap and a disc brake swap where the guy also put spacers and longer wheel lugs on the rear wheels to stick them out further. It looked kinda strange but I guess it would help some with stability. I don't know about using them with the truck loaded up with weight in the back of it though, might put too much stress on the rear wheel bearings, etc. I think that tech article was on this website, not sure though. It did have pictures.

Your right, there are alot of reasons not to use spacers. I was thinking it might be a heavy duty thing, F-250-350, get a better GVWR with the rear axle tucked under like that, until Billy Bob said his 150 was like that too.
