Talking Biggest Exhaust Thread EVER!!!

Ok, I have a 93 Ranger with the 4.0 and its time for a new exhaust system. Anyway, I have decided to just buy a muffler and have my local exhaust shop do all the work. I have narrowed it down to these mufflers.
  1. Magnaflow round 2.5" in/out (stainless) $69.99
  2. Dynomax Ultra Flow round 2.5" in/out (aluminized) $73.99
  3. Moroso spiral flow 2.5" in/out (untreated steel?) $46.99
  4. Flowmaster 40-series 2.5" in/out (aluminized) $59.99
  5. other (you guys suggest) ***up to $75***

I will have a 2.5" single aluminized pipe ran after the converter with a single stainless exhaust tip exiting after the passenger rear tire.
PLEASE DON'T SUGGEST GLASSPACKS BECAUSE THAT'S JUST GAY!

I'd go with the Magnaflow or Flowmaster on the 4.0.

Oh yeah... a turbo muffler has a nice tone to it. Deep and rumbly and should be pretty mellow.

Glasspacks sound ok on V8's but sound like crap on a V6. I originaly had a glasspack on my ranger witht the cats still on and it sounded bad. Then put the Thrush muffler on and it was much better, next I got rid of both cats and then it sounded great.

That pretty sums up what I think about glasspacks.

I have seen alot of systems on the internet and people seem to like split duals. Should I run a Y-pipe and duals that come out under the bumper or stay with a single?

I would just run a sinle pipe unless you really want the looks of the duals.

I agree about Flowmaster for V8s. On my 77 F-150 I have dual Flowmaster 40s and those paired with the lopey 460 sound pretty mean. But on a V6 I just think they would sound really hollow and tinny (no tiny as in small).

So I think I'm gonna get a Magnaflow unless there is a strong objection to that. Has anybody heard these on a 4.0 and not liked them?

dude......how can you say glasspacks are gay? I have an 83 f-100 with a 3.8 V6. i just spent 300 for a flowmaster 40 series single in dual out system... and it sounded good at idle but when i hit the rev's, it sounded like a ricer. i took my cat and everything off and slipped an 18" thrush glasspack on there(dumped). it sounds awesome...for bigger motors, i would say flows but on tiny 6's go with a glasspackyoull thank your self

The 50 series Flowmaster doesn't sound as tinny as the 40 on the 6 cyl. I had one on my Jeep. Don't even put a glasspack on a 6 cyl.... please.................
