stupid question

how can i find out what engine i have? the SOHC or the ohc i think thats right? i have a 98 b-4000, the reason i ask is i'm getting a new maf sensor for it and want to know if its going to be different for the engines. also where can i find a good maf sensor.

01+ was the SOHC in the rangers. So if the engines are the same in the mazda. 98's have the OHC.

Yes, you have the OHV in your '98 Mazda.

AutoZone sells MAFs, about $75 with exchange.

would that one ur talking about be better than the stock one or does it really matter. cause i was looking around last night and i read for one that it allows 45% more air flow and thats better for performance. its 300 bucks though would it be worth the money? oh thanks for clearing up the engine types

IMO, unless you have seriously modified your engine, you will gain nothing by using an aftermarket MAF. A good article on the subject:
