Does anyone know where I can get a cowl induction hood for my '70 sport custom? I have looked from one end of the web to the other trying to find them, with no luck. I know they make them, I have seen trucks with them, but I can't find them. I don't care if they are metal or fiberglass. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
No, I'm sorry I didn't explain myself very well did I. I was looking for one for my truck, I'm sorry, thanks for looking for me though, I do appreciate it and I'll try to put all the info up in the future. Thanks again!!
I have a 77 and would like the same thing your talking about. Have you thought about using a fiberglass hood scoop then cutting a hole in your stock hood to make it functional? I'm sure a good body shop could do it for about the same price as an aftermarket hood-if they made one.Just a thought though.
Yeah I'm at the point that even the fiberglass sounds good, but the only problem I keep running into is that they are way too long or way too short. I would like to mould the scoop onto the hood following the angle just above the hood letters all the way back to 3 or 4 inches from the windshield, which measures out in the 42-43 inch range. Most I've found are for muscle cars, which are way too long, or little trucks which are way too short. And yeah I do want the cowl induction type scoop, they just look mean. But I do run a 6" breather, and with and tall intake and a spacer plate I will need the cowl. Let me know if you see anything that would work. Thanks!
this is something i am considering for my 91 f250 diesel. check out carhoods.com
they don't have an application for a '70, but it looks like they have just the scoops.
good luck
My brother and i have made our own cowl hoods for everything we've ever owned. If you have some body work skills its not hard, we cut the with and length of the hood, rise it up and put thin (16-20ga.) steel on the sides. get another hood and extend the back of the cowl with part of the extra hood. A little smoothing out and your ready to go.
