Intake manifold leaks
OK. Here is my problem. I pulled the 352 V8 out of my 1967 F-100 and took it in to be rebuilt. The shop re-surfaced the block and heads during the rebuild(may have been done once before on previous rebuild). It was re-assembled and when I put the intake manifold back on, I found that the intake ports no longer matched up due to the machining of block and heads. Bummer. Not wanting to scrap the project, I tried adding permatex to the intake gasket but still had leaks all the way around. The engine idles well and runs fine but has zero vacuum at idle and mileage is very poor. I am ready to try another solution but I am not sure what procedure I should attempt. Can I use a double gasket? Is there a special purpose gasket designed for this problem? Am I doomed? I am looking for suggestions. Thanks.
if the heads are re-surfaced you have to re-surface your intake too, otherwise your intake is to "wide" and is not matching to the block/heads.
Ask your shop, they should know that.
Maybe that's helps a little....
