Have a problem that pops up periodically. Sometimeswhen I have run the truck for half an hour or so and shut it off and then try to start it again within 5-10 minutes or so, the truck has a hard time starting. Its as if the battery is bad but if I let the truck cool for a while, the truck will start up no problem.
At times, the starter will really strain to suet things going, and it will often start if I keep the starter going for a few seconds.
Other symptoms is that the battery cables are hot when the starting problem occurs. If anyone has any ideas on how to troubleshoot this or recognize what's going on, please let me know.
Somtimes if the timing is too advanced you will have a hard time starting the truck after it warms up. It could be either that or mabye a bad starter. I would start with checking the timing. I hope this helps.
Checked the wiring and connections are good and tight. Got myself a rebuilt starter and will be replacing that and see what happens. Also will be changing the the wire to the negative connection to the battery - probably doesn't need it but at least I will know that isn't the problem.
