My neighbor bought the same exact truck as me last year, 2002 F350 with about 34K on it as of now with a very strange problem as of yesterday. His shifter will go from park to reverse to neutral to drive with no problem but will NOT go in any lower gear manually. It shifts fine if you put it in drive and go but he can't pull the shifter to 2nd or lower by hand? So, what's up, need help, thanks.
sounds like a simple linkage adjustment. I have not been under my PSD enough to tell you exactly where it is on these trucks. But it is pretty simple to find. usually on the upper 2/3 of tranny right behind the bell housing. or on the top. give it a try climb under there and find it. Adjusting is pretty self explanatory. Just remember what notch you started at you may have to play with it a little to move it the right way. This is the most common shifting problem with all auto tranny's. Also the cheapest to fix (obviously). Good Luck
