From everything I have read in this forum only one person claims to have been able to get the vibration problem fixed with his truck. When I refer to the vibration problem I mean vibration at 2000 and 2300 RPM.
Does anyone have a TSB on this?
Has anyone else been able to have this fixed on their truck and if so what did they do.
Thanks for your help. I hope to gather some info so I can tell my service center.
The V-10 vibration caused out rear-end seal to blow. After repair by a local rear-end shop it was corrected. But the drivetrain vibration finally was corrected. How many others have this problem.
Still no idea what is causing this vibration. I am going to bring the truck back into the dealer in about 2 weeks or so. Actually, I am going to bring it to a different dealer and see if they can find the cause. I do however have a few ideas as to the cause. I have been searching some of the other Ford truck sites and have found many occurances of this vibration. In fact, i have about 20 pages of messages that I have printed out of others with the same problem. I plan to use that as proof that my truck is not the only one having a problem.
As to what it could be ???
I have found numerous people that have had bad drive shafts. This is what I am suspecting.
I also have found a few paople that had a transmission mount. it is the mount between the trannny and the cross member. Seems that they have a metal insert in them and some are couching the tranny and cross member with the metal, thus causing vibrations from the tranny to the frame.
have also found some people with bad bushings between the frame and body on the drivers side. Seems to be sililar to the tranny mount problem.
The first problem (I'll call a resonance) was definently rpm related and the fix was to order the dampeners that I mentioned in my previous post. These parts were originally for a 2.5 inch diameter exhaust and as we know the V10 has a 3 inch exhaust system. They apparently add mass to the exhaust system and that resonance is now gone at all rpms.

I can't believe that dealers don't read their own TSB's. I posted the information that you need on the above date and time. (I think archive 9 or 10)Tell your dealer to do his job and consult the Oasis database and give him the TSB listed in my previous post.
The Dampners fixed the harmonic problem for me at 2100 and then again at 2350 but they may have to play with it and move em around until they find the right spot to attach em.
Good luck, sounds like your gonna need it with this dealer.

I posted a couple of weeks ago about my troubles
I had a cracked tranny .So I sent it to the dealer
and he replaced tranny no problem...but when I went to pick it up I drove it and the vibration which had gotten worse right before the tranny cracked was still there.I mean it was bad nothing I did helped it so I drove it back and said I think it has to be the driveshaft Youll know the feeling. so he replaced the driveshaft and all is well. I suspect it either slung weights off (which it had a alot on it) or It came that way and took 12000 miles to finally brake the tranny
The new shaft has one weight on it and it drives better than it did before! The dealer was not the one I bought the truck from but local and was great!!He worked with me all he could , he handed me my keys and I was on my way! It is a little disheartning a brand new truck but it is fixed!
F250 SD SC 4x4 SWB 4.30 lmtsp 5-speed V-10
A HOSS!!!
Yes it started at about 2000 rpm through 3000
fourth or fifth gear. it wasnt consistant,I mean it happened every time but it was like a hum But since I had it fixed it drives better than ever no hum at all. Please if it sounds any thing like mine have it checked like I said my tranny broke on the interstate, now it got me home it didnt want to but it did.Even after they replaced my tranny it still sounded the same, it got bad the night it broke. So the driveshaft fixed it.
It seems to be a common problem. I have a 99 SD f25o 4x4 sc lariat sb 6.8l v-10 with vibration at or between 2100 & 2400 rpms. First time notice was at purchase. they check it said nothing wrong. Second time i was told it was rocks in the heat shields. Sounds like a design flaw. Well its back at the dealer being fixed. They have had it for two days going on three. Just recieved word that the vibration was exhaust related and weights or clamps were installed. Also some other work was done to neutralize the vibration. will follow up with all details when i get the paperwork.
What kind of truck do you have? From the research I have done I have only seen people with a the short box, subercab setup have this problem. Has anyone else had this problem with a setup other than that?
